Meezan Bank inks MoU with University of Central Punjab

imageKARACHI: Pakistan's first and largest Islamic Bank, Meezan Bank, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Central Punjab (UCP), one of the largest private sector business schools in Central Punjab.

An official said here on Tuesday that under the MoU, the Meezan Bank will support UCP in developing MBA courses and Programme in Islamic Banking and Finance.

Meezan Bank will design and develop the teaching methodology, course curriculum and resources, aid UCP in faculty development and research initiatives in Islamic Banking and Finance.

On their end, the UCP will provide campus facilities besides co-branding and marketing this programme at its own platform.

The MBL and the UCP will also collaborate in holding Islamic banking public awareness seminars and workshops for the students, faculty of UCP and public at large to spread understanding about Islamic banking.

For this purpose, the MBL will provide its support through its experienced and knowledgeable professionals in Islamic and General Banking.

The MOU was signed by Deputy Head of Learning and Development of Meezan Bank Ahmed Nauman Anees and Dean, Business School, UCP Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Pro-rector of UCP, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafarullah, Programme Director MBA (Banking and Finance) Professor Khalil Ahmed Rao, Director External Linkages Ms. Chemaine Majid and Associate Director Corporate Connections, University of Central Punjab Waryyam Iqbal.

The MOU will serve as a platform for developing future Islamic bankers with specialised skills set and knowledge. This collaboration will also prove to be greatly beneficial for Meezan Bank and UCP alike in terms of spreading Islamic banking knowledge and awareness, it was further stated.
