imageISLAMABAD: Dr Shireen Mazari, Central Information Secretary PTI, Friday strongly objected to the Caretaker Govt's attempts to effectively impose a mini budget on the people of Pakistan, through GST, excise duties, raised electricity charges and so on - all indirect taxes aimed at burdening the common citizen even further!

She stated that PTI categorically rejected this attempt by the Caretaker Government as it was not within their mandate to do so, especially when elections had been held and Parliament was about to meet.

It will be the job of the new government to assess taxes, GST issues etc and the Caretakers have no legal right to hamstring a new government before it has been sworn into office.

Dr Mazari called on the President also to desist from signing any such ordinance which seeks to impose a covert mini budget just before Parliament meets and a new elected government takes over.

PTI does not accept such actions and will raise its voice in the Parliament if such measures are imposed by the Caretakers through Presidential Ordinances, Dr Mazari concluded.
