ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Sharmila Farooqui said on Tuesday that the PPP candidates were running effective door-to- door campaign but in the coming days selective big rallies will be arranged.
Talking to APP, she said that PPP leadership was not afraid of threats of the extremist forces but safety of its workers was also priority of the PPP. She said that the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address the PPP rallies through video conferencing system, she said adding that the party has already launched its campaign in both print and electronic media and people of Pakistan will judge on the performance.
She said that PPP opponents whom she termed Taliban apologists were running their campaign but the PPP and like minded parties were deprived of the level playing field.
She welcomed the decision of nationalist parties in Balochistan and Sindh to participate in the coming elections, which she said would help strengthen the federation. "It was result of the PPP politics of reconciliation that the nationalist forces from both the provinces have joined the mainstream politics.
The coming elections were a contest between the liberal democratic forces and Taliban apologists and its was up to the masses of Pakistan to decide what type of Pakistan they wanted post- elections, she added.
To a question she said that always anti-PPP forces formed alliances but the people of Pakistan have voted for the PPP.
