imageLAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court Tuesday provisionally allowed eight candidates to contest elections.

The bench ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to include name of Nadeem Sarwar,Ch. Zubair Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad, Tanvir Ahmad, Ch. Mukhtar Ahmad, Nadeem Gohar and Rana Muhammad Farooq in valid candidates list. However, the bench linked the interim order with final decision on their petitions.

The bench, comprising Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, passed the orders while hearing different petitions by the said candidates challenging orders of the returning officers and election tribunal against them for being agriculture tax defaulters.

The petitioners through their petitions assailed orders of returning officers and election tribunals who declared them ineligible for being agriculture tax defaulters.

The bench after hearing partial arguments provisionally allowed petitioners to contest elections besides seeking record of agriculture tax defaulters from Board of Revenue by April 24.
