ISLAMABAD: The Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) distributors association has reiterated its commitment to continue support towards government for extending relief to consumers.
" The caretaker minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Sohail Wajahat Saddiqi has convened meeting of the LPG distributors association to discuss several issues including prices, LPG policy and introduction of LPG auto-stations in order to ease the energy crisis and extend relief to LPG consumers, across the country," the association says in a press release issued on Monday.
It says the minister has appreciated the association for its cooperation for improving energy situation and extend relief to consumers.
The association's chairman Irfan Khokhar while talking to APP told that energy crisis could be overcome in a short time, if the OGRA made efforts wholeheartedly in light of the LPG policy and its mandate, in this regard.
He said given LPG trend in market, the producers should reduce price of the fuel to pass on the relief to end-consumers who included mostly the common man who was already groaning under inflation.
He also underlined the need for taking solid steps to explore indigenous hydrocarbon resources to effectively tackle the energy challenges confronting the country.
Regarding new LPG policy, he said it would address various issues that could not be covered in the previous policies besides encouraging growth of LPG industry for its sustainable and enhanced availability of LPG products.
