KARACHI: Hollywood heart-throb Tom Cruise has reportedly signed on for yet another science-fiction project, a Warner Bros. adaptation of the Japanese novel “Yukikaze” by Chohei Kamayashi.
Warner Bros. obtained the rights to adapt the story as well as finance the project while the movie is produced by The 3 Arts’ Erwin Stoff and All You Need Is Kill’s Tom Lassally.
In Kamayashi’s story, the influential Special Air Force is at secret war against aliens that disastrously invaded Earth through a hyper-dimensional gateway over Antarctica 33 years ago. The second lieutenant Rei Fukai’s mission is to investigate the aliens headquarters accompanied by his wing mate. Yukikaze is the name of the advanced reconnaissance fighter plane the hero uses on his missions.
Reportedly, the “Oblivion” actor is currently shooting “All You Need Is Kill”,adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s science-fiction novel published by Viz Media.
