KARACHI: Hollywood’s big-hearted Angelina Jolie has opened a girls-only primary school near Kabul in Afghanistan funded by her personally designed jewelry collection, the Style of Jolie.
Oscar-winner Jolie, Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), reportedly intends to open more such institutions around the world. In fact, American media claim her jewelry designer, Robert Procop, who helped her design the collection, says using the ENTIRE earnings for educating under-privileged children is the sole purpose of the jewelry, under Jolie’s new foundation - The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.
At present, the school reportedly educates about 200 to 300 girls in the region which culturally favors boys. Allegedly, the “Changeling” star chose the region because of the high number of refugees.
The Style of Jolie, opening next week, will be available only in Tivol, Kansas. Many pieces of the line are those Jolie has worn to previous events such as a gold set she wore to the premiere of “Salt.” Some are likened to pieces she has gifted to others, such as the engagement ring Procop designed for her to give Brad Pitt.
