KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 110,250 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,859 tonnes of import cargo and 18,391 tonnes of export cargo including 5,684 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 91,859 tonnes comprised of 68,253 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,111 tonnes of general cargo; 4,941 tonnes of bulk cargo and 7,554 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 18,391 tonnes comprised of 15,529 tonnes of containerised cargo; 246 tonnes of general cargo; 2,616 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 5,684 containers comprising of 4,166 containers of import and 1,518 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,889 of 20's and 1,072 of 40's loaded while 123 of 20's and 05 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 439 of 20's and 123 of 40's loaded containers while 175 of 20's and 329 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Telemann, Cosco Japan and NACC Poros carrying containers and cement respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 107,666 tonnes comprising of 77,208 tonnes of import cargo and 30,458 tonnes of export cargo including 1,700 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 77,208 tonnes includes 25,000 tonnes of coal; 11,500 tonnes of palm oil; 16,533 tonnes of gasoline; 25 tonnes of LPG; 8,000 tonnes of soyabean and 16,150 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,458 tonnes includes 14,308 tonnes of cement; 6,708 tonnes of LPG and 16,150 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,700 containers comprising of 850 containers import and 850 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely Gulf Crystal carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely Aristo Mens carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean, gasoiline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Cosco Japan, Express Athens, Telemann, Royal Fairness, Daphne, Lito, Corcovando, Al-Yamamah and Hafnia Arctic carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LNG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Cosco Japan, Telemann, Susana-S and Al-Yamamah carrying containers, phosphoric acid and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There was one ship namely Susana-S carrying phosphoric acid due to arrive on Friday while two more ships namely Maersk Bogor and Manet carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
