The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) organized a seminar which was addressed by Syed Nusratullah Shah, translator of Quaid-i-Azam Papers. Dr. Zakria Zakar, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Samar Fatima, Chairperson Department of Gender Studies, Dr. Riffat Munawar, Associate Professor at ISCS and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

 

The speakers highlighted various aspects of Quaid's personality and message to the nation.

 

They said Quaid was a man of bravery, strength and honesty, adding that Quaid-i-Azam believed that no nation could progress without education.

 

 They further said that Quaid was an upholder of equality between man and woman and he envisioned Pakistan where there would be full and equal participation of woman.

 

They said, "We need to think and work actively to transform the vision of Quaid-i-Azam into reality".

 

They said that Quaid-i-Azam never believed in caste and creed and was a strong and visionary leader having immense hopes from youth. They said that he also believed on the talent and intellect of young generation.

This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Youth Affairs, Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari.

 

He was speaking at the `Youth Convention' organized in the metropolis on Tuesday by the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh.

 

The moot was organized in connection with the 136th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam.

 

The Chief Justice of the Shariat Court, Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, Azad Kashmir's Minister, Muhammad Salim Butt, Sindh secretary Youth Affairs, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, and Director Youth Affairs, Khurshid Ali Shaikh, Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, Prof. Anwar Ahmed Zai, also expressed their views on the occasion.

 

Muhammad Salim Butt was of the view that the youth should resolve today that they would united and street the countries of the difficulties.

 

Shaoib Ahmed Siddiqui said that the holding of the convention was aimed at apprising the youngsters of the vision and philosophy of Quaid-i-Azam.

 

Later, Faisal Subzwari gave away prizes to those who obtained first, second and third poosition in the debate contest.

The people renewed their pledge to strictly adhere to his golden principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline to make Pakistan a stronger, developed and democratic welfare-state.

 

National flag is being hoisted at all the government buildings in all major cities of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Fata as mark of respect and to pay homage to the great leader. It was a public holiday.

 

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for departed soul of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and prosperity, peace and development of Pakistan and liberation of muslims occupied territories. A number of political, social, cultural and educational organisations have organized different programmes to mark this momentous occasion in a befitting manner.

 

In this connection, a declamation contest was held here at Ahmed Public Schools and College, Tarru Jabba here where speakers paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation.

 

Ehtesam Qaiser, a 10th grade student said Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a towering personality, who changed the course of history and geography of world through peaceful struggle.

 

He said Quaid-e-Azam stood for constitutionalism, rule of law, respect for human rights, and equality. He said Quaid-e-Azam's slogan of 'Unity, Faith and Discipline' had inspired the Muslims of the subcontinent to achieve a separate state for themselves in South Asia.

 

Shehryar Khan, a 9th class student said Quaid e Azam was a principled and farsighted statesman and even his opponents had acknowledged his flawless and exemplary character.

 

He was not only led the freedom struggle to its successful completion but also took practical steps to determine basic contours of polity. His thoughts and ideals are beacon of light for the nation till today, he added.

 

TV and Radio channels are presenting special programmes on the life, struggle and achievements of the Quaid-e-Azam, while the newspapers brought out special supplements to highlight this momentous day. Similarly, special functions were also held at all the agency headquarters of Fata where national songs and debate competitions among students held.

 

The speakers paid homage to Father of the Nation's constant and unbendable courage, which resulted the creation of Pakistan on world map on August 14, 1947.

 

They said Mr Jinnah desired that every citizen should have equal opportunities of education, health, progress, freedom, justice and fair play and it a high time to strictly follow his principles to address issues faced by the country's today.

 

The befitting way to pay tribute to Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is to forge unity, work hard for progress and prosperity of the country.

Radio Pakistan Abbottabad has arranged special programmes to highlight the philosophy, achievements,life and services of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

 

Special talk show titled, Muhammad Ali Jinnah Quaid-i-Azam was also broadcasted in the national hook up at 1.20 pm to highlight the vision and farsightedness of the great leader.

 

Mehfil-e-Mushaira on Quaid was also held under the auspices of Bazm-e-Ahl-e-Qalam Hazara, Abbottabad to mark the day.

Altaf Hussain, in his message issued by the MQM on the birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, said that the Quaid-i-Azam was averse to all forms of religious extremism and wanted to establish a system in Pakistan based upon religious harmony and social justice.

 

He said that the Quaid-i-Azam foresaw a Pakistan in which every citizen, including the minorities, had equal rights.

 

He said that the MQM wanted to cleanse Pakistan of religious extremism and all forms of religious prejudices so that every citizen in Pakistan enjoyed equal rights.

LAHORE: The nation is celebrating the 136th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah with national spirit and enthusiasm across the country and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday (today).

 

The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for the eternal peace of Quaid-e-Azam and progress and unity of the country, while the national flag will be hoisted at all government and semi-government buildings.

 

A 31-gun salute and 21-gun salute would be given in the Federal capital and provinces, respectively. The main event of the day will be held at Mazaar-e-Quaid with the change of guard.

 

Seminars and conferences would be organised by a number of political, social, cultural and educational institutions throughout the country to highlight the services of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in achieving independence of Pakistan.

 

The day is observed every year with a pledge to transform Pakistan into a vibrant, progressive and enlightened country as envisioned by the great leader.

 

In Karachi, government officials and representatives of the Armed Forces would lay floral wreaths at the mausoleum of the Quaid on behalf of their services and would offer ‘Fateha.’

 

Newspapers would bring out special supplements highlighting the life and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam. Radio and TV channels will present several programmes to highlight the achievements and leadership characteristics of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

 

Quaid’s birthday was a day of rededication to the principles of the Father of the Nation as well as a day to reiterate our resolve to defeat the forces that seek to undermine the nation’s founding principles. Quaid-e-Azam stood for constitutionalism, rule of law, respect for human rights, and pluralism, educationists said.

 

They said Quaid’s slogan of ‘unity, faith and discipline’ inspired the Muslims of the sub-continent and they rendered exemplary sacrifices to achieve the state under the dynamic leadership of their leader.

 

In order to pay tribute to historic services of Father of the Nation with zeal and zest, Punjab University will remain open on Tuesday as a part of celebrations of the birthday of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

 

Seminars, quiz, debate competitions, skits etc. will be organised today in all the departments to highlight the services of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
