LSE index down by 16.3 points

Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Wednesday and the equities registered gains amid ascending transaction volume following fresh buying in select scrips. However, last hour selling pushed the LSE-25 index down by 16.30 points to close at 6391.61 against 6407.91 of Tuesday while trading turnover was increased to 2.871 million shares compared with 0.898 million shares traded a day earlier.

The market was opened on a positive sign and stayed in green zone almost throughout the day. The investors' interest in Century Paper & Board Mills, Hascol Petroleum PPL, Tariq Glass, Leiner Pak Gelatine, D G Khan Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Maple Leaf Cement, Faysal Bank, Engro Corporation, PIA and Adamjee Insurance helped market sentiments.

Because of profit-taking, PSO, Pakistan Oil Fields, Pioneer Cement Sui Southern, NetSol Technologies, Khalid Siraj, Bank Alfalah, Pak Elektron, Engro Fertilizer and K-Electric were ended in minus column.

The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 95 active issues, 25 companies posted gains, 17 suffered losses while 53 companies remained unchanged.

Ferozsons Laboratories gained Rs 9.34, Century Paper & Board Mills was improved by Rs 2.70, Hascol Petroleum was appreciated by Rs 2.45 while PPL and Tariq Glass were up by Rs 1.75 and Rs 1.27, respectively.

PSO lost Rs 4.84, Pakistan Oil Fields was declined by Rs 2.00 while Pioneer Cement and Sui Southern were down by Rs 1.16 and Rs 1.05, respectively.

Adamjee Insurance was the market leader whose 716,500 shares changed hands followed by Silk Bank with 500,000 shares.
