Cop, Razakar killed in terrorists' attack

Two policemen, who were gunned down by the terrorists on Saturday night, were laid to rest on Sunday. Punjab Minister Muhammad Iqbal Channer, Regional Police Officer Rai Muhammad Tahir, DPO Sarfraz Falki and DCO Bahawalpur Imran Sikandar Baloch and a number of people were present at their funeral prayer.

It may be recalled that two motorcyclists opened fire at a mosque in Uch Sharif of Bahawalpur district on Saturday night when faithful were busy in offering traveeh prayers and as result of which one constable, identified as Haibat Khan and a Qaumi Razakar Abdul Sattar, were killed.

According to police Inspector Azhar Javed Chaudhry, both the policeman and the Razakar were shifted to Uch Sharif's Rural Health Centre and from where they were referred to Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur, but they died on way to the hospital. He said that initial post-mortem report indicated that constable received four bullet wounds while the Razakar sustained two bullets. Police said that the ugly incident took place at a joint mosque of Shia and Sunni in Uch Sharif. Quoting witnesses, police said that there were three attackers on one motorcycle.
