Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports
The Karachi Port handled 130,927 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,525 tonnes of import cargo and 25,402 tonnes of export cargo including 5,440 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 105,525 tonnes comprised of 53,842 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,219 tonnes of general cargo; 8,464 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,615 tonnes of DAP; 3,849 tonnes of soyabean meal and 36,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,402 tonnes comprised of 18,413 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,989 tonnes of bulk cargo: 602 tonnes of cement and 6,387 tonnes of iron powder. As many as 5,440 containers comprising of 3,460 containers import and 1,980 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,393 of 20's and 977 of 40's loaded while 23 of 20's and 45 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 441 of 20's and 364 of 40's loaded containers while 271 of 20's and 270 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were no ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. PAC Aries, Desh Prem and Lunita carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely ER Helgoland, HS Marco Polo, PAC Aries and KSL Anyang carrying containers and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Desh Prem carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. Ever Radiant, Cosco Kobe, Sea Crystal and Trans Spring carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. APL Arabia, Fowairet, Portofino and Navios Armonia carrying containers and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
A cargo volume of 76,203 tonnes comprising 60,053 tonnes of import cargo and 16,150 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,134 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 60,053 tonnes includes 2,847 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,310 tonnes of palm oil; 8,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 43,396 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 16,150 tonnes includes 16,150 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,134 containers comprising of 2,284 containers import and 850 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Cornele, CV Maersk Atlanta and CV MSC Positano carrying containers respectively expected to sail on Thursday afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Cornele, CV Maersk Atlanta, CV MSC Positano, MV Goeogioss, MT Exquisite, MT Sichem Eagle and MT Ali Goti currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, LNG, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely Nord Imabri, Ginga Pluma, New Naxos and Black Pearl carrying steel coil, phosphoric acid, LPG and furnace oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday. There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Judith, CV Maersk Simakau, CV Margrit Rickmers, MV Nord Imabri and MT Black Pearl carrying containers, steel coil and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Fucon and CV Lily Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
