Prime Minister's incentives scheme: Lahore marriage hall owners keen to avail themselves of package

A number of unregistered owners of marriage halls and caterers in Lahore have shown willingness to avail of Prime Minister's tax incentive package offered till February 28 to bring this potential industry into the tax net. Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that the assurance has been given by the Marriage Hall Association and the Caterers Association to the tax authorities of Regional Tax Office-II (RTO), which convinced various potential sectors to avail the PM's tax incentive package.
It is expected that the owners of such marriage halls get documented by availing the tax incentives under the said scheme. Details revealed that a meeting was held with the representatives of Marriage Halls Association and the Caterers Association of the Lahore. Asim Ahmad, Commissioner IR and Naureen Yaqoob Additional Commissioner-IR of RTO-II, Lahore along with Mian Ilyas, President and Nasir Javed General Secretary Marriage Halls Association, Lahore and Malik Jamil General Secretary, Party Decorators & Caterers Association were present. Asim Ahmad Commissioner IR apprised them about the Prime Minister's Tax Incentive Scheme. The Commissioner briefed the representatives of the association that the scheme was announced to encourage the non-compliant taxpayers. He said that the scheme provides immunity from audit, additional tax and penalty to both dormant and new taxpayers. Those who are NTN holders and have not filed their return for last five years can enjoy the facility by paying just Rs 20,000 for each year. The new taxpayers can enjoy this facility for five years by paying just Rs 25,000 for each year before 28.02.2014. A list of enrolled non filers and unregistered, operative marriage halls was also handed over to the representatives. The representatives of the association assured their full co-operation and commitment to motivate the members for taking strong advantage of the PM's scheme.
