us-stock-NEW YORK: Strong earnings reports from Procter and Gamble, Halliburton and other equities propelled US markets higher Friday.

 

At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 68.42 (0.49 percent) to 13,893.75.

 

The broad-based S&P 500 rose 7.98 (0.53 percent) to 1,502.80.

 

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 19.33 (0.62 percent) to 3,149.72.

 

Friday's trading saw slumping technology giant Apple and oil behemoth ExxonMobil trade off as the biggest company in terms of market capitalization. By the close, Apple had recovered the top spot after ceding it to Exxon in the early afternoon.
