big234KIEV: Ukrainian grain exports rose 78 percent to 11.755 million tonnes in July-November 2012, the Agriculture Ministry said on Friday.

 

The 2012/13 season runs until June next year.

 

Ukraine exported 5.481 million tonnes of wheat, 4.360 million tonnes of maize and 1.759 million tonnes of barley, the ministry said in a statement.

 

The former Soviet republic exported 6.6 million tonnes of grain in July-November 2011 and this included 2.1 million tonnes of wheat, 2.4 million tonnes of maize and 1.7 million tonnes of barley.

 

Ukraine plans to harvest 46 million tonnes of grain this year versus 56.7 million tonnes in 2011. The exports may total 20-21 million tonnes of grain in 2012/13 season against 22.8 million tonnes in 2011/12.
