ISLAMABAD (July 03 2007): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday emphasising the importance of education said the government has been taking various steps to promote education at all levels.
Addressing the first ever convocation of Foundation University at the Convention Centre here, the Prime Minister said, access to education is basic right of every individual and gives the people a voice in decisions affecting their lives.
He said illiterate nations can not make progress, therefore, the government is taking measures and making maximum efforts to promote educational facilities throughout the country.
The Prime Minister said education enhances human capabilities, creates opportunities for individual progress and social mobility. He said the most critical difference between rich and the poor nations today is the level of education and the quality of the human resource.
Shaukat Aziz said only universal education can meaningfully involve the entire population in nation building and enable them to benefit from the opportunities presented by globalisation. He congratulated the graduates and appreciated those who have won distinction for their outstanding performance.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan has a bright future and as the upcoming leaders and architects of Pakistan, the young graduates should help build a positive image of Pakistan as a strong, dynamic and progressive country.
