KARACHI (March 09 2010): The Karachi Port handled 196,552 tonnes of cargo including 97,776 tonnes of import cargo; 98,776 tonnes of export cargo and 5,305 loaded and empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 97,776 tonnes comprised of 67,614 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,592 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,969 tonnes of canola; 116 tonnes of MOP; 6,485 tonnes of wheat and 20,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 98,776 tonnes comprised of 66,928 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,087 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,754 tonnes of cement; 16,587 tonnes of rice and 2,420 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Twelve ships namely Patriotic, Abyot, Bunga Raya Satu, Glory Tellus, BRO Caroline, TS Malaysia, Michael-S, Uni Promote, Tug Smith, Hanjin Montevideo, PAC Antlia and Dorian sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Nine vessels viz APL Sokhna, Cathrina, Uni Promote, Red Sea Spirit, Thomas Mann, Quetta, Bunga Raya Tiga, Faez and Lucky-7 are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Bunga Raya Tiga, Freedom and Lucky-7 expected to sail on Monday, while seven vessels viz APL Brisbane, Thomas Mann, Al-Ihsa'a, Master Nicos, Quetta, CEC Concorde and Chi Feng Kou expected to sail on Tuesday.
Five vessels viz MT Swat, High Saturn, APL Brisbane, Seaways Venture and Queen Arrow-II due to arrive on Monday, while seven ships namely Kota Anggerik, Sagamore, Kota Layar, MSC Peggy, Lucky Carrier, Lucky Arrow and Song Nghan are due to arrive on Sunday.
PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 43,095 tonnes of cargo includes 26,554 tonnes of import cargo; 16,541 tonnes of export cargo and 2,674 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 26,554 tonnes includes 2,209 tonnes of chemicals and 24,345 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 16,541 tonnes includes 3,929 tonnes of rice and 12,612 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV Maersk Georgia and MT Sichem Lily sailed out to sea during last 24 hours.
Five vessels viz CV Maersk Georgia, MV Tan Binh-34, MV Cheng Yun, MV Priscilia Venture and MT Sichem Lily are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, rape seeds and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours. Container vessel viz MSC Sarawak is currently at the outer anchorage.
Two vessels viz CV MSC Sarawak and MT Bow Power carrying containers and palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. A total number of nine ships namely Lobivia, ACX Hibiscus, CMA CGM Azure, HS Beethoven, Al-Noof, Iron Monger-5, Al-Salam-II, Orient-II and Super Star-III carrying containers, furnace oil, diesel oil and cement are also due to arrive.
