KARACHI (February 09 2010): The Karachi Port handled 243,132 tonnes of cargo including 162,917 tonnes of import cargo; 80,215 tonnes of export cargo and 5,185 loaded and empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 162,917 tonnes comprised of 73,408 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,037 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,312 tonnes of canola and 72,160 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 80,215 tonnes comprised of 42,313 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,603 tonnes of bulk cargo; 23,199 tonnes of cement and 13,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Fifteen ships namely OOCL Dalian, TS Jakarta, APL Sokhna, Uni Promote, Seaways Valour, Samin-1, Siam Sapphire, Quetta, Tien Yen, Caribbean Carrier-1, Ginga Leopard, Gulf Elan, Christa Rickmers, Moyra and Bourbon Arcade sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Fourteen vessels viz Queen Arrow-II, Jaipur, Lucky Arrow, TS Jakarta, Uni Promote, MOL Bravery, Seaways Valour, LTC Calvin P. Titus, Bunga Raya Dua, Kota Halus, Emperor, MT Johar, Chemroad Journey and Louise are currently at the berths. Not a single ship is expected to sail on Monday.
Seven vessels viz Rising OM, Agility, Sima Sahba, Alliance New York, Panthora, Bolan and King Feast due to arrive on Monday, while five ships namely Chem Bridge, Chemroad Mega, Pacific Rich, BBC Green Land and Counti Express are due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 97,360 tonnes of cargo includes 77,528 tonnes of import cargo; 19,832 tonnes of export cargo and 2,621 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 77,528 tonnes includes 49,188 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,207 tonnes of palm oil; 2,500 tonnes of chemicals; 213 tonnes of project cargo and 18,420 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 19,832 tonnes includes 2,279 tonnes of rice; 837 tonnes of cement and 16,716 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Five ships namely CV QIA Al-Fija'a, CV Nord Winter, CV NSC Jasmine, MT New Toyokaze and MV Panthera sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. Ten vessels viz CV Nord Winter, CV QIA Al-Fija'a, CV NSC Jasmine, MV Miltiades, MT Alexi-III, MV Tien Yen, MV Panthera, MT Chemtrans Elbe, MT New Toyokaze and MT Al-Anbariah are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, project cargo, chemicals, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A total number of four ships namely MSC Jade, Maersk Ohio, BBC Green Land and Sima Perdana carrying containers, project cargo and palm oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
Four vessels viz CV MSC Jade, CV Maersk Ohio, MT BBC Green Land and MV Sima Perdana carrying containers, project cargo and palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-1) and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. Edible oil vessel viz Sicem Cons Ester due to arrive on Monday, while two more vessels viz CV Nedlloyed Africa and MV Alessandro Volta with containers and coal are due to arrive on Tuesday.
