Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI (February 03 2010): The Karachi Port handled 123,911 tonnes of cargo including 72,660 tonnes of import cargo; 51,251 tonnes of export cargo and 3,428 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 72,660 tonnes comprised of 16,979 tonnes of containerised cargo; 636 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,091 tonnes of canola; 7,515 tonnes of DAP and 42,439 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,251 tonnes comprised of 31,560 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,571 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,174 tonnes of cement; 8,046 tonnes of rice and 1,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Six ships namely Ninos, Stolt Viking, Mariner, Strong, Posen and APL Dalian sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Five vessels viz APL Dalian, Hammurabi, Chemical Progress, Pacific Opal and Confidance Ocean are currently at the berths. Four ships namely New Legend Sun, Michalis K, Chemical Progress and Thor Dynamic expected to sail on Tuesday, while four vessels viz Pacific Opal, YM Saturn, Red Sea Spirit and Dawnlight expected to sail on Wednesday.

Two vessels viz Chemroad Journey and Caribbean Carrier due to arrive on Tuesday, while eleven ships namely Louise, Chem Bridge, Ginga Leopard, Hanjin Gdynia, Bunga Raya Sambilan, Hyundai General, Kota Akbar, Bavaria Express, Green Point, Queen Arrow-II and Siam Sapphire are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
The Port Qasim handled 36,669 tonnes of cargo includes 18,750 tonnes of import cargo; 17,919 tonnes of export cargo and 2,561 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 18,750 tonnes includes 1,500 tonnes of palm oil and 17,250 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,919 tonnes includes 987 tonnes of cement and 16,932 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships: chemicals carrier MT Indradi, edible oil vessel MT Jbu Opal and container vessel CV Maersk Missouri sailed out to sea during last 24 hours.

Four vessels viz CV Maersk Missouri, MV Miltiades, MT Alexi-III and MT Jbu Opal are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours. A total number of four ships namely Nedlloyed Europa, Golden Oceania, STX Eastern and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.

Four vessels viz CV Nedlloyed Europa, MT STX Eastern, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Gas Chios carrying containers, palm oil, diesel oil and LPG are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and PROGAS Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Three container ships namely CV ACX Jasmine, CV CMA CGM Coral and CV Pago due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz CV CMA CGM Eiffel, CV Al-Abali, MT Bunga Katan Dua, MT New Toyokaze and MV Oxi Lotus with containers, palm oil and project cargo are due to arrive on Thursday.
