Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI (January 30 2010): The Karachi Port handled 82,949 tonnes of cargo including 35,884 tonnes of import cargo; 47,065 tonnes of export cargo and 4,263 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 35,884 tonnes comprised of 22,806 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,614 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,000 tonnes of coal; 7,280 tonnes of DAP and 2,184 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 47,065 tonnes comprised of 37,437 tonnes of containerised cargo; 363 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,348 tonnes of cement and 3,917 tonnes of rice. Five ships namely Hyundai Commodore, Al-Marwah, Sargodha, Jakarta Express and Samin-1 sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Five vessels viz Wales-II, Kota Lambai, Le He, MSC Sena and Konkar Theo are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Vinh Thun, Le He and Kota Lambai expected to sail on Friday, while two vessels viz MSC Sena and Hammonia Pacificum are expected to sail on Saturday.

Five vessels viz JBU Opal, Hammonia Pacificum, YM Europe, Sagamore and Dawnlight due to arrive on Friday, while twelve ships namely Oriental Wisteria, Gulf Tiger, Stolt Viking, Atlantic Hope, MT Swat, Moyra, OEL Shreyas, APL Chicago, Ninos, Fade-1, Nadeem and Red Sea Spirit are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
The Port Qasim handled 44,470 tonnes of cargo includes 27,253 tonnes of import cargo; 17,217 tonnes of export cargo and 1,968 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 27,253 tonnes includes 16,078 tonnes of furnace oil and 11,175 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,217 tonnes includes 1,767 tonnes of rice; 774 tonnes of cement and 14,676 tonnes of containerised cargo. Four ships namely CV Ville d Orion, CV Dubai Express, CV Asir and MT Fair Spirit sailed out to sea during last 24 hours.

Five vessels viz CV Dubai Express, CV Asir, MV Oriental Bridge, MT Alexi-III and MT Fair Spirit are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. A total number of six ships namely Maersk Novazzano, MSC Jeanne, Heunga Pioneer-II, Al-Salam-II, Al-Anbariah and Bhairavi carrying containers, palm oil, diesel oil, furnace oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.

Five vessels viz CV Maersk Novazzano, CV MSC Jeanne, MT Heunga Pioneer-II, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Bhairavi carrying containers, palm oil, diesel oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.

Container ship namely Green Point due to arrive on Saturday, while three more vessels viz CV Norasia Alps, CV Hammurabi and MT Al-Soor-II are due to arrive on Sunday. Seven vessels viz CV Maersk Virginia, CV Maersk Missouri, Nedlloyed Europa, Panthera, Oxi Lotus, Indradi and Wales-II carrying containers, project cargo, MEG and cement are also due to arrive.
