KARACHI (January 27 2010): The Karachi Port handled 132,682 tonnes of cargo including 86,268 tonnes of import cargo; 46,414 tonnes of export cargo and 3,854 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 86,268 tonnes comprised of 15,421 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,383 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,075 tonnes of canola and 57,389 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,414 tonnes comprised of 41,115 tonnes of containerised cargo; 914 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,985 tonnes of cement and 400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Seven ships namely Thomas Mann, APL Brisbane, Bunga Raya Tiga, Song Shan, Tom Ship-2, Rising OM and Bow Cedar sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Al-Ihsaa, APL Brisbane, OEL Trust, Tom Ship-2 and Gulf Coral are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely OEL Trust, Quetta, Gulf Coral and Dorian expected to sail on Tuesday, while three vessels viz Sima Sahba, COS Fair and Salsabila are expected to sail on Wednesday. Two vessels viz Samin-1 and Queen Arrow-I due to arrive on Tuesday, while nine ships namely Al-Marwah, Moyra, Bunga Raya Lapan, Jakarta Express, CSL Mare, Kota Lambai, Hyundai Commodore, Thor Dynamic and PB Provider are due to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 58,483 tonnes of cargo includes 47,454 tonnes of import 11,029 tonnes of export cargo and 1,181 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 47,454 tonnes includes 5,225 tonnes of palm oil and 35,449 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,029 tonnes includes 1,950 tonnes of rice; 331 tonnes of cement and 8,748 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely Maersk Virginia sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while three more vessels viz MT Beaufort Sea, MV Zenobia and MT Precedence are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Six vessels viz CV Maersk Virginia, MV Zenobia, MV Oriental Bridge, MT Alexi-III, MT Precedence and MT Beaufort Sea are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. A total number of two ships namely Nedlloyed America and Fair Spirit carrying containers and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
Two vessels viz Nedlloyed America and Fair Spirit scheduled to load/offload containers and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. Seven vessels viz ACX Pearl, CV Maersk Virginia, Ville d Orion, Dubai Express, CSAC Jura, Al-Salam-II and Wales-II carrying containers, diesel oil and cement are due to arrive.
