Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI (January 24 2010): The Karachi Port handled 93,071 tonnes of cargo including 53,013 tonnes of import cargo; 40,058 tonnes of export cargo and 2,934 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 53,013 tonnes comprised of 24,564 tonnes of containerised cargo; 71 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,585 tonnes of canola; 18,000 tonnes of coal; 724 tonnes of MAP and 2,758 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 40,058 tonnes comprised of 25,283 tonnes of containerised cargo; 630 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,604 tonnes of cement and 2,541 tonnes of rice. Three ships namely MT Johar, Kota Hapas and Concord sailed out to sea during the reported period. Eight vessels viz Kota Hapas, Lucky Arrow, MSC Rouerta, Sea Lark, Kota Handal, TS Malaysia, OOCL Charleston and Song Shan are currently at the berths.

Five ships namely Tan Binh 36, Saeed, MSC Rouerta, TS Malaysia and Carmencita expected to sail on Saturday, while five vessels viz Lucky Arrow, Seaways Valour, OOCL Charleston, Oriental and Song Shan are expected to sail on Sunday. Three vessels viz Rising OM, Uni Promote and Seaways Valour due to arrive on Saturday, while ten ships namely Bow Cedar, Quetta, Gulf Coral, Kota Layar, Thomas Mann, Dorian, OEL Trust, Fade-1, Sai Sabila and Tom Ship-2 are due to arrive on Sunday.

PORT QASIM
The Port Qasim handled 56,951 tonnes of cargo includes 37,576 tonnes of import cargo; 19,375 tonnes of export cargo and 3,258 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 37,576 tonnes includes 9,346 tonnes of palm oil and 28,230 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 19,375 tonnes includes 2,648 tonnes of rice; 215 tonnes of cement and 16,512 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely CV HS Beethven, MT ST Kitts and MV Leopard-B sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another vessel CV Maersk Novazzano is expected to sail on Saturday.

Seven vessels viz CV HS Beethven, CV Maersk Novazzano, CV MSC Namibia, MV Zenobia, MV Oriental Bridge, MV Leopard-B and MT Chemstar King are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.

A total number of five ships namely Santa Catalina, Chem Star Moon, Precedence, Gulf Coral and Angelia carrying containers, palm oil, diesel oil and cement respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.

TWO VESSELS: Container ship namely CV Santa Catalina and oil tanker MT Gulf Coral carrying containers and palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Saturday.

Two ships namely MV Alexi and MT Al-Salam-II scheduled to load/offload cement and furnace oil due to arrive on Saturday, while another container vessel viz Maersk Virginia is due to arrive on Sunday. Five container vessels viz ACX Pearl, Nedlloyed Europa, Ville d Orion, Dubai Express and Asir and another ship namely Saeed with cement are also due to arrive.
