Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI (January 12 2010): The Karachi Port handled 221,001 tonnes of liquid import cargo including 145,901 tonnes of import 75,100 tonnes of export cargo and 5,200 loaded and empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 145,901 tonnes comprised of 76,141 tonnes of dry cargo including 60,751 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,190 tonnes of general cargo; 5,200 tonnes of coal and 69,760 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 75,100 tonnes comprised of 67,200 tonnes of dry cargo including 64,785 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,639 tonnes of bulk cargo; 776 tonnes of general cargo; 1,639 tonnes of cement and 7,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Eleven ships namely TS Dubai, YM America, OEL Trust, Seaways Valour, Uni Promote, Providence, Stena Calass, MT Swat, Liberty Pride, Kota Akbar and BW Columbia sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Thirteen vessels viz Liberty Pride, STX Begonia, Seaways Valour, Uni Promote, Kota Akbar, Posan, Bunga Raya Tujuh, LTC Calvin P. Titus, Al-Mirqab, Islamabad, Fu Yuan Shan, BW Columbia and Bhai Ravi are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Fu Yuan Shan, Bunga Raya Tujuh, Posen and Bhai Ravi expected to sail on Monday, while three vessels viz Al-Mirqab, Vinashin Melody and Al-Kawther expected to sail on Tuesday. Three vessels viz El-Sherfi G, Sima Sahba and APL Dalian due to arrive on Monday, while another ship namely Conti Sharjah is due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
The Port Qasim handled 46,182 tonnes of cargo including 42,343 tonnes of import 3,839 tonnes of export cargo and 539 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 42,343 tonnes includes 14,352 tonnes of crude oil; 8,340 tonnes of palm oil; 5,249 tonnes of chemicals; 10,262 tonnes of iron ore and 4,140 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 3,839 tonnes including 330 tonnes of rice; 353 tonnes of cement and 3,156 tonnes of containerised cargo. Four ships namely CV Donau Trader, MT Chemroute Sun, MT Chem Bulk Jakarta and MT Iron Monger-5 sailed out to sea during last 24 hours.

Eight vessels viz CV Donau Trader, MV Zenobia, MV Leopard-B, MT Sichem Marseille, MT Chemroute Sun, MT Chem Bulk Jakarta, MT Iron Monger-5 and MV Heng Cheng are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, chemicals, palm oil and crude oil respectively during last 24 hours. A total number of four ships namely Al-Deerah, Malven, Maersk Carolina and Tan Binh-36 carrying diesel oil, LPG, containers and rice respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.

Three vessels viz CV Maersk Carolina, MV Orion-II and MT Al-Deerah scheduled to load/offload containers, cement and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.

Two ships namely CV Nedlloyed Oceania and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers and diesel oil due to arrive on Monday, while another vessel viz MV Mara with coal is due to arrive on Tuesday. Six ships namely ACX Marguerite, CMA CGM Azure, CMA CGM Puget, Anke Ritscher, Al-Soor-II and Orient carrying containers, diesel oil and cement are also due to arrive.
