Index sheds 77.67 points
KARACHI (September 02, 2010): The KSE-100 index on Wednesday lost 77.67 points and closed at 9,735.38 points, mainly due to selling by local investors. The market opened on a negative note and the index hit 9,683.91 points intra-day low level, down 129.14 points. Trading also shrank and the volume at ready counter declined to 52.248 million shares as compared to 81.645 million shares traded on Tuesday.




LSE index down 32.66 points
LAHORE (September 02, 2010): Mixed sentiment prevailed at Lahore Stock Exchange on Wednesday where equities moved both ways and the index settled in negative zone amid descending transaction volume on account of lack of interest on the part of investors. The LSE-25 index lost 32.66 points and closed at 3074.52 against 3107.18 of Tuesday, while trading turnover squeezed to 2.581 million shares as compared to 4.127 million shares.




ISE down 22.67 points
ISLAMABAD (September 02, 2010): Bears dominated the proceedings at Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) on Wednesday where equities showed negative signs under the lead of hot favourite amid decrease in index. ISE-10 Index was down by 22.67 points from 2,534.84 to 2,512.17 points. Turnover amounted to 76,700 shares as compared to previous turnover of 159,360 shares.




BRIndex30 loses 39.91 points
KARACHI (September 02, 2010): On Wednesday, the BRIndex30 opened at 7,597.35 points and remained in negative throughout the trading session. It touched the intra-day high of 7,597.35 points and low of 7,475.43 points and closed at 7,557.44 points with a net negative change of -39.91 points, or -0.53 percent.



Month-on-month basis: KSE volume hit nine-year low in August
KARACHI (September 02, 2010): The average daily volumes at Karachi share market drastically declined by 18 percent on month-on-month basis to nine years lowest level of 57 million shares during August 2010. The market witnessed declining trend and the benchmark KSE-100 index declined by 6.7 percent during the month.



SECP concerned over drive against KSE non-member director
ISLAMABAD (September 02, 2010): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has noted with concern recent news in the print and electronic media regarding campaign by members of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) against a non-member director as chairman of the KSE Board.



ADB to issue first clean energy bond
ISLAMABAD (September 02, 2010): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) plans to issue its inaugural Clean Energy Bond to support its clean energy projects in Asia and the Pacific. The Clean Energy Bond is expected to have four tranches, one each denominated in Australian dollars and Turkish lira and two tranches in Brazilian real, according to ADB press statement received on Wednesday.



Margin Financing System: easing concerns
KARACHI (September 02, 2010): Three issues were raised by Chairman Karachi Stock Exchange Zubyr Soomro, subsequent to the approval given for the proposed Margin Financing System. They related to (a) letting the broker off-the-hook on default of a client; (b) allowing individuals to lend money (ie Badla) through the screen-based system; and (c) enforcement of know-your-client mechanism as required under anti-money laundering law.
