KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has paid rich tributes to former prime minister and chairperson of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto on her fifth death anniversary.
In a statement issued by the MQM here on Thursday, Altaf said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto waged long struggle for the revival of democracy in the country and for its continuation. Ultimately, she laid her life for the sake of democracy.
He hailed her as the martyr of democracy and said that her services and sacrifices for democracy would always be remembered.
He sympathized with President Asif Ali Zardari, her children,leaders and workers of the PPP on the death anniversary of the martyred leader.
