HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares rose 0.71 percent Wednesday morning on hopes for a deal to avert the US fiscal cliff, while eurozone confidence was boosted by a credit rating upgrade for Greece.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 159.92 points to 22,654.65 in the first few minutes of trade.
