rupee_copyISLAMABAD: The rupee went slightly up against US dollar, dealers said.

The rupee ended at 86.62 to the dollar, up by fifty one paisas from Thursday's close of 87.13 in the interbank forex market. "

An analyst, Abdul Malik told APP that the rupee got strength against the dollar because of the increase of remittances by 25 per cent in first quarter of the current year.

"Since our exports are dependent on imported raw material, pressure on the dollar will rise," another analyst said.

The weighted average interbank rates of buying and selling released by the Central bank also went up to 86.57 and 86.62 from 86.95 and 87.13 of the previous trading session.

The local currency appreciated in the open market to 86.50 for buying and 88.00 for selling against Friday's 87.70 and 88.10.
