Punjab Assembly session on June 1
Punjab Governor, Makdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmud, has summoned newly-elected Punjab Assembly (PA) on Saturday June 1 at 10am. According to the scheduled, the forthcoming session of the provincial assembly will be held from June 1 to June 5. The outgoing Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal will administer oath of office to the newly elected members on 1st June.

On 2nd June, nomination papers will be filed for the office of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker for which polling will be held on June 3. On 5th June, the members will elect leader of the house/Chief Minister after which the house will be adjournned for an indefinite period. It may be added that the majority party PML (N) has already nominated Shahbaz Sharif for the office of Chief Minister. The PTI the second largest group in the assembly is likely to occupy the opposition benches in the Punjab Assembly.
