MADRID: The number of people looking for jobs in Spain gained 2.73 percent in October on a monthly basis to 4.83 million, one of the highest levels in Europe, data released on Monday by the labour ministry showed.
Spain, the fourth-biggest eurozone economy, is struggling to reduce its excessive public deficit and debt, and has implemented austerity measures that hamper a quick rebound in economic activity.
On an annualised basis, the number of jobseekers has climbed by 10.84 percent, and now stands at 4.833.521 according to the ministry data.
