Civil-military coordination: 'Apex' bodies constituted in provinces

Provincial apex committees have been formed in all provinces for co-ordination in security matters as well as to implement the decisions recently taken through the National Action Plan (NAP). According to ISPR, for co-ordination of security issues and implementation of NAP at provincial level, apex committee have been formed in each province. In this respect, a special meeting was held at Corps Headquarters in Lahore for Punjab apex committee.

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif attended the meeting of Punjab Apex committee along with Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the civil-military co-ordination on security. Corps Commanders the province and senior provincial officials were present in the meeting to discuss the overall formation of the apex committees. The committees consist of both military and political leadership.

General Raheel assured military's full support to provincial government for judicious and speedy action against terrorists. He further told the participants that whole-hearted participation of society and harmony among all intelligence and law enforcing agencies at every level is the need of the hour and the key to success. An All-Party Conference's resolve to root out terrorism from Pakistan would serve as a 'force multiplier,' he added. Chief Minister Punjab appreciated the whole-hearted support of Pakistan Army and appreciated the joint execution of the NAP within prescribed parameters and timeframe.
