He said that lakhs of poor people are benefiting from the mega welfare projects like Aashiyana housing scheme, metro bus project, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, mobile health units, Punjab Rozgar scheme and Daanish schools. The Chief Minister said that the development journey started by Punjab government during its last tenure will continue with new spirit and determination. He reiterated that Punjab would be made an exemplary province of Pakistan with regard to development. He asked assembly members to keep close liaison with the people, make public service their motto.
He expressed these views while talking to the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir, Federal Minister for Industry and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, Members of National and Provincial Assembly of various districts who called on him here Saturday . Sardar Yaqub Nasir, Ghulam Muhammad Lali MNA, Abdul Manan MNA, Provincial Minister Iqbal Channar, Imtiaz Lali MPA and Kanji Ram MPA were present on the occasion.
Talking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that PML-N government, ministers, members national and provincial assembly and the people have took active part in helping their Baloch brethren affected due to earthquake. He said that Punjab government and the people sent relief items of crore of rupees to affected areas whereas 35 crore rupees were given in the Prime Minister Relief Fund. He said that under the Winter Package for saving the earthquake affectees from severe cold, 30 thousand quilts and shawls worth Rs 10 crore have been sent to Balochistan. The Chief Minister said that PML-N leadership is fully aware of the problems being faced by the country and the nation and is making sincere efforts for bringing the motherland out of quagmire of problems. He said that peace is vital for foreign investment and promotion of trade and economic activities. He said that government is taking sincere steps for making the country a haven of peace. The Chief Minister said that steps are also being taken on emergent basis for coping with energy crisis. He said that the country would ensure a dignified status in the comity of nations under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and all energies would be utilised for bringing it out of challenges. He said that due to the concrete and best policies of Punjab government, foreign investment of billions of dollars is pouring in the province. Shahbaz Sharif expressed the hope that the Youth Business Loan Programme started by federal government would yield very positive results. He said that Punjab government is also setting up Punjab Rozgar Bank for providing loans to the youth on soft terms.
He said that promotion of technical education is of great importance for alleviating poverty and unemployment. He said that training of various skills is being imparted to jobless youth under Punjab Skills Development Programme and its scope would be expanded to the entire province. The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive programme has been evolved for providing essential items to the people at fixed rates in the province. He said that due to timely and effective steps of the government, prices of eatable items have stabilised and provision of daily use items would be ensured to the people at fixed rates at every cost. He asked Assembly Members to utilise all their energies for solving the problems of the people.
Federal Ministers Barjees Tahir, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi and assembly members talking on the occasion said that people of the province are benefiting from the welfare programmes of the government. They said that the Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is making sincere efforts for the development of the province. They said that due to timely and suitable steps, the prices of essential items have reduced considerably. They said that the steps taken for the betterment of the people in Punjab are role model for other provinces. Member Provincial Assembly Kanji Ram presented a cheque for Rs 3 lakh to the Chief Minister for earthquake affectees of Balochistan.
