ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan cricket captain, Imzamam ul Haq has termed Lahore City Cricket Association " a role model body " for promoting cricket at grass roots level during previous three years and called for continuation of present set up of the association.
Talking to a private news channel, Inzamam said that significant cricket development at early level in recent years can be seen by the efforts of this association.
He said that efforts are being made in right direction to re-establish Lahore's name as nursery to identify and groom the new talent.
The former legendary batsman said that there is dire need to continue the policies of the present set up of LCCA.
'There is a commendable improvement in Lahore local cricket which is evident from the results achieved by Lahore's teams in domestic tournaments in recent years ",he asserted.
He said the task assigned to LCCA is not easy as long terms efforts with devotion and dedication are needed to give Lahore its previous status of a cricket body which produced a number of test and international cricketers in the past.
Praising LCCA's working during previous three years, Inzamam said a record activity was held at grass roots level besides leagues were introduced to engage the clubs in competitive and quality cricket activities.
He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to support this association for the revival of cricket saying that PCB has its specific role in the development of cricket and without cooperation of regional cricket bodies this purpose cannot be achieved.
He believes that club cricket badly needs the attention of PCB and business houses so that ample funds are available to generate sufficient cricket activities at local level.
