KARACHI: Apna Arsh Pakistan-Center for Sustainable Development (AAP-CSDA), a citizen sector organization partnership, are proud to bring to Pakistan the pioneering AgriBusiness Development Forum (ABDF). This forum is being held at LUMS and is being organized with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN as well as the Agriculture Support Fund (ASF).

  • The broad objective of the ABDF is to provide a cohesive platform for all agri players in Pakistan, at the micro, meso and macro levels.
  • The ABDF will provide a voice to policy level concerns, as well as incubation for innovative pilot projects at the grassroots level.
  • The ABDF will help facilitate Route-to-Market solutions for local, national and regional trade.
  • The ABDF will utilize a hybrid value chain approach to develop agribusiness in Pakistan.
  • Harness ICT innovation to reach Bottom of the Pyramid population for real time knowledge sharing
  • The ABDF will be vertically linked to the Executive Framework for OIC countries to promote OIC level collaboration.

The ABDF aims to integrate all links in various agri-based value chains among different sectors including horticulture, major crops, minor crops, dairy, etc.  Key public, private and social sector decision makers will be present to share their views on taking this initiative forward. Introductory remarks will be made by Country Representative UN-FAO, Dr Kevin Gallagher, ASF CEO, Khalid Khan, Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Arif Nadeem and Iqbal Bukhari, FFC. Aeyesha Gulzar, MD AAP, will provide rationale for creation of the ABDF while Dr Mahmood Ahmad, MD CSDA, will expound on the competitive advantages.
