It can be such a heart wrenching experience to read news about crimes i.e. mass killings, bomb blasts etc, especially for those whose loved one’s have been the unfortunate victims of such atrocities.
A US based anti gun group called the ‘Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence’ wants to erase the names of these killers from major websites. Now, to achieve that, the group is releasing a new extension for the Google Chrome browser.
The extension named “Zero Minute of Fame” will do just that, "You can wipe away the killer's name and image from your screen, and replace it with something that truly deserves our attention -- the victims," said the plugin description on Google Chrome web store.
The extension, once downloaded, removes killers' names and images from major news websites and Google searches. It blocks names and replaces it with the statement (name withheld out of respect for victims), it also blocks killer’s pictures and replace it with that of victims.
The information accompanying the Zero Minutes extension states that 30 percent of mass killings and 22pc of school shootings are inspired by similar incidents held previously.
“These events are always covered by the media, who plasters the killer’s name, image and motives all over their broadcast channels. So, if the media continues to give these killers their 15 minutes of fame, then it’s time to take matters into our own hands,” the extension information said.
“By simply downloading this plug-in, you can wipe away the killer’s name and image from your screen, and replace it with something that truly deserves our attention —the victims,” it added.
