imageAfter Google Maps’ success, various companies are trying various methods to overcome the feat of Google. IBM being one such company is on its way to do just that. The new program revolves around weather impacts on business and for the time being it has been labeled as ‘Weather Maps’, though with no relation to Google as IBM is the one developing it.

Business Insider reported that after securing the initial partnership IBM's Inhi Suh, VP and GM of Big Data, Integration, & Governance, realized that ‘The Weather Company’ was working on some mind-blowing technology. “I got to see, along with a few members of IBM, some of the technical capabilities the Weather Company was developing, if you think about how Google has mapped the earth with Google Earth, the Weather Company has begin to map the entire atmosphere," Suh explained.

About the program being developed, it is said that it has a growing ability to capture data in the Karman line, the 62-mile boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space. Further the program has ability to accurately track weather details could have huge implications for business operators.

IBM has reportedly paid $2 billion for the accessing the Weather Company’s assets, even though they are already in partnership with the company. It looks like IBM is trying to increase the compatibility of the ‘weather software’ with its own super computer Watson.
