SEOUL: South Korea's largest refiner SK Energy will shut down its No.2 86,000 barrels-per-day (bpd) residue hydro desulfurisation unit (RHDS) in the fourth quarter, its parent SK Innovation Co Ltd said.
SK Energy shut its 72,000-bpd No.1 RHDS in June for a month-long maintenance, a senior official at SK Innovation told a quarterly earnings call on Thursday.
The two units, which remove sulphur from oil to produce cleaner fuels such as gasoil and gasoline, are located in the city of Ulsan, about 315 kilometres (195.73 miles) southeast of Seoul.
