JAKARTA: Indonesia's central bank revised down its outlook for economic growth in 2016 to 5.0-5.4 percent from its previous 5.2-5.6 percent after the economy recorded slower-than-expected growth in the first quarter.
Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo also said room for monetary easing can be exercised sooner if macroeconomics conditions are maintained, without elaborating.
Annual growth in the first quarter was 4.92 percent, lower than the market expectation of 5.1 percent. In 2015, Indonesia had growth of 4.8 percent, the lowest level in six years.
