imageIt can be argued that Adobe Flash’s days are numbered, as Google have announced that beginning on June 30, display ads built on Flash would no longer be uploaded to AdWords or DoubleClick, the search engine’s two biggest products.

Whereas, as of January 2nd, 2017, display ads in the Flash format will no longer run on the Google Display Network or through DoubleClick, Google announced through a post on Google +.

The announcement indicates that the days of Flash on the web are truly coming to an end. Despite, Flash being a major force in the development of the modern internet, the technology has become too obsolete.

According to Mashable, Flash has become a frequent vulnerable target, it is almost nonexistent on the mobile, which has left the once leading technology with no real future.

Flash longevity on the web, could be assigned to the plenty of advertisers that still use it to serve displays ads. Google, being a market leader in both desktop web browsers and as an ad platform could help kill Flash altogether.

Google for its part has offered HTML5 as Flash replacement. The search engine made HTML5 the default video player for its video-sharing website, Youtube.

Google move to encourage advertisers to use HTML5 could well be the final steps in helping getting rid all of our web browsers of Flash.
