victory_400ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's triumph over Sri Lanka in a cricket World Cup clash at Colombo made a large number of cricket-lovers here rejoice everywhere, who braved rainy chilly night time temperature.

People saw the match at different locations including Islamabad Stock Exchange, National Press Club and Sector F-10 where big screens were installed to live telecast the most interesting contests of the world cup so far. Besides, restaurants and makeshift hotels in the markets were fully packed with the cricket fans, who enjoyed the match with

friends, and with cup of tea.

"It is as if I am in the stadium in Sri Lanka. I feel no difference here," said Muhammad Atta ur Rehman, a spectator who along with friends witnessed the match at the National Press Club.

Interesting scenes were noted during the match as the viewers got anxious over mis-fielding and catch-drops by the Pakistani players.

Given the attachment of every Pakistani with cricket, it is common to comment and view the game simultaneously. Some aggressive fans started predicting defeat for the national team as Sri Lankan batsmen established control on the crease.

However, there were many `commentators' among the viewers, who did not lose hope and stuck to the television screens till the last delivery, with which everybody erupted into jubilations as the Green Shirts registered their 11-run victory the second after whooping 205 runs conquer against Kenya in their first match.

Sweets, tea and drinks were offered to each other, and to everyone sitting by, no matter he was a friend or stranger. A happy moment for everybody. Some prayed for the national team to continue this winning streak in more difficult contests ahead. Some had word with each other and pinpointed the shortcomings in today's match, and argued Pakistan must improve fielding side.

Chairman Senate Farooq H. Naek and Deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali felicitated the National Cricket Team over the victory.

They extended their well-wishes for the national squad during the World Cup.
