Pakistan requires proper mechanism for protection of human rights: Rabbani
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Raza Rabbani on Thursday said the country lacks the mechanism which is required for human right protection in a proper way.
Responding during the question hour session in the National Assembly he said the Ministry of Human Rights is gearing up to play an effective role for protection of human rights, adding that the ministry was newly established.
To a supplementary question regarding Balochistan situation he said many forces are actively engaged in anti state activities in Balochistan. The government in collaboration with security and intelligence agencies, is taking measures to curb these activities and identify and punish the people involved in such activities.
He said a tribunal is working in the province to address the issue of missing persons but facing difficulties due to incomplete data of missing persons.
Responding to the concern showed by Osman Khan, the Minister said the federal government is ensuring security forces actions in the province within the parameters of laws.
Earlier, the Ministry for Human Rights in a written reply informed the House that some international donors and organizations have provided some funds to the Ministry to conduct various activities for creating awareness among the public on human rights.
