PESHAWAR: Director General National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Brig Musadiq Abbasi has said that corruption is a vicious circle that always strikes back as the saying goes what goes around comes around.
"The Government is bound to meet the needs and curb the greed, DG NAB said while addressing a day long seminar here on Character Building: A Shared Responsibility". The seminar was jointly organized by NAB KPK and University of Engineering and Technology.
Brig Musadiq Abbasi said that corruption is a biggest security threat and a country do not need external enemy where corrupt practices were rampant.
He said that our problem was that we follow the rituals and do not pay heed to the message adding that as an individual we will have to make difference instead of pointing fingers at others.
DG NAB regretted that we have forgotten the teachings of Quran and holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and underscored the need for character building while imitating the lifestyles of Prophet Muhammad as a role model.
He urged upon the students to be punctual and disciplined and pick up the habit of reading as they were the future leaders of the country.
Dean of Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies at University of Peshawar in Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Qibal Ayaz said that Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the best role model for the entire humanity adding that it was the character of the last prophet that jews and non-Muslims held him in equal esteem.
The major cause of deterioration of Muslims was the decline in their character, he said, adding that we must all revive good character so as to build healthy society and prosperous nation, he added.
Prof Qibla Ayaz said that academic institutions and media must give direction to the people and also called for change in the syllabus to inculcate human values and good character in children.
He said that we need to be honest, dignified and disciplined and added that if he were to choose in power, wealth and credibility, his choice would be the last one.
Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani asked the students to love their country that provided them a platform to materialize their dreams.
He said that no country accepts immigrants with open hand and it was the native country that gives respect and opportunities to its people.
Gillani said that corruption was unhealthy and energy stems from integrity and urged the students to contribute whatever little they can instead of complaining about corruption.
Later, DG NAB KPK Brig Musadiq Abbasi, VC UET Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani, Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies UoP Prof. Qibla Ayaz held a walk to raise awareness among the students about significance of character building.
