MOSCOW: The rouble's official exchange rate until the end of a three day Russian holiday was set by the central bank on Saturday at 28.1717 against the dollar and at 39.4038 versus the euro, the bank's website showed.
The central bank sets official exchange rates daily on the basis of weighted average rates on the MICEX exchange. The exchange will be closed from March 6 to March 8, when Russia holds international women's day celebrations.
On Friday, the central bank's official exchange rates were set at 28.1880 roubles per dollar and 39.3476 roubles per euro
The rouble showed the best weekly gain against the dollar since late 2009 in the week to March 4, hitting its strongest level in 26-months of 29.11 after the central bank raised all key interest rates and widened the rouble's trading corridor, providing it with more room to gain.
