Indian bhangra singer Sukhbir Singh was arrested at the hands of custom authorities at the ‘Allama Iqbal International Airport’ Lahore, after he was found to be carrying USD 27,000, in excess of permissible limits.
According to local media reports, Sukhbir was set to board flight PK-203 to Dubai but was found to have been carrying $ 27,000, during the luggage screening, after which the custom authorities barred him from boarding the plane.
Pakistani custom authorities detained him for interrogation. Somehow, he gave a slip to the officials and disappeared from the airport.
The Airport Security Force (ASF) and Pakistan Customs are both charging each other with the responsibility of the event. The official said, “Had this happened the Indian singer would have been behind bars”.
