PM Nawaz forms committee to lift ban from Bollywood movies
Four months after Pakistan ban Indian films from its cinemas, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced a committee to look into demands of local theatre owners who are bleeding financially.
With nearly empty theatres causing huge financial strain to cinema hall owners in Pakistan owing to country's ban on Hindi films. Pakistan may soon resume screening of Bollywood movies.
Officials said the panel would include minister of state for information and broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, advisor to the Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui, film censor board chairman Mubashir Hasan and a representative from an intelligence agency. They will seek clearance of Indian movies to be screened in Pakistan, local media reported.
A report in The Hindu also states, distributors in Pakistan are hoping to get the permission before the release of Raees, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, on January 25.
