Don Abdul Latif's son to take Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' to court
Shah Rukh Khan's Raees has been in news ever since its first look was released. After facing back to back controversies, once again the movie has got all the attention. After the trailer went viral, Don Abdul Latif's son Mushtaq Sheikh has issued a fresh warning to the makers of the film.
Earlier in April, Ahmedabad-based liquor Mafioso, Abdul Latif's son Mushtaq Sheikh filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit in the Gujarat High Court against the makers of Raees. Demanding a stay on the film's release, he alleged that the protagonist's character, played by SRK, was based on his late father.
The Raees team had issued a statement clarifying that the film (and the character of raees Aslam, as portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan) was not based on any person, living or dead. It is an imagined crime thriller set against the backdrop of Gujarat, the statement read. The Mid Day report states that the court has asked Mushtaq to wait until the films release.
Reportedly, Mushtaq has also claimed that the makers of the movie are defaming his late father. An inappropriate depiction of Latif's wife played by Mahira Khan has also raised eyebrows.
