Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma has now become one of the household names in TV industry. After a great success of his previous show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ he is now back with another comedy show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. His new show has courted several controversies from its inception but this time it is something really serious.
According to Indian media reports, nursing staff from different medical colleges and hospitals staged protest at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar. Nurses and nursing staff raised slogans against both Kapil and Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is also part of the show. Both Kapil and Sidhu are from Amritsar.
Protest is against the show for allegedly projecting nurses in a vulgar manner. Not to forget, on the comedy show, actor Rochelle Rao plays a sexy nurse, while Kiku Sharda plays a fat nurse.
A complaint has also been filed against Kapil at a police station in Amritsar. The nurses and the nursing students feel that the show has demeaned their profession by objectifying them. The nurses’ union in Amritsar is also planning to file a defamation case against Kapil, Hindustan Times reported.
While reacting to the incident, major character of the show, Kiku Sharda said, “It is all in good humour. I don’t think anyone should take it personally. We are not trying to make fun of any profession. Every character is part of some profession, and if people from every profession start objecting and protesting, then there will be no end”.
