Despite many flaws, Pakistan remains a goldmine of talent, for example Nigar Nazar, who is by the way, Pakistan's first female professional cartoonist.
According to BBC, Nazar almost ended up becoming a doctor. She said, “In college I was studying to become a doctor, but I was constantly doodling in the margins of my medical books.”
“Shortly afterwards I decided to take a U-turn and managed to persuade my parents to let me take fine arts,” she added.
The result was ‘Gogi,’ a female comic character created by Nagar, which as per Jargan Post, is an educated and a progressivel thinker. Gogi wears polka dotted dresses and is loved by thousands around the globe.
Nigar uses the cartoon character, to highlight the major issues and contradictions of the society. "I get inspiration from things that happen around me," she said. Topics ranging from environment to women education are all part of Nuzhat comics, with a punch of humor as well.
