KARACHI: Ten films have been announced for the visual effects category for the final Oscar nominations.

“The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Avengers,” “The Amazing Spiderman” including “Skyfall”, “Life of Pi,” “Snow White and the Huntsman,” “Cloud Atlas,” “Prometheus”, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “John Carter” are the ones selected.

The hugely popular “The Hunger Games” has been left out much to the surprise of the critics and the media.

Five films will be nominated after the jury analyzes ten-minute clips from the selected features on January 10, next year.
