KARACHI: Well known Bollywood actor and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s ambitious project “Paani” will be produced under the well-reputed Yash Raj Films banner.

According to reports, Kapur has been preparing for this project for a long time. He was searching for a partner who has an equal passion for film making and he found one in Aditya Chopra.

The story of the film will be based on a future world where lack of water will result in wars. Water will be owned by international corporations and use thirst to control people. In this future city, a young couple will fall in love breaking all the rules with water eventually becoming freely available to people.

Reportedly, Paani will have a mixture of Indian and western cast. The male lead actor will be chosen from India and the actress from the west. Unconfirmed reports suggest Hrithik Roshan will star as the male lead, but no confirmation has been made on that front so far.

Paani will go on the floors mid-2013, and will be shot in India and overseas. A.R. Rahman will compose the music for the movie.
