Two days prior to its official release, Shahid Kapoor’s controversial movie ‘Udta Punjab’ has been leaked online on Torrent websites. Makers of the movie aren’t happy with this act and the complaint has been filed to the cyber crime cell.
Phantom Films filed a copyright theft case with the cybercrime cell last night after what they believed that the copy submitted to the censor board found its way into several torrent sites that offered the film's download illegally. The download links were later removed due to a copyright complaint, Indian media reported.
There were also reports that the leaked copy had a run-time of two hours 20 minutes.
The complaint was registered by Satyajeet Mukharjee from Phantom Films Pvt Ltd in Andheri. In the complaint, Mukharjee said, “The upcoming Hindi movie `Udta Punjab' has been copied illegally and uploaded on torrent.com by unknown person. The film team learnt about it on Wednesday afternoon, after it visited the site and found the movie was available on torrent sites for illegal download,” Times of India reported.
Bollywood film fraternity showed their anger for leaking the movie online, prior to its official release.
