Pakistan’s two short films Saffaan Qadir’s ‘Holiday in December’ and Rayika Choudri’s ‘Baat Cheet’ will be representing the country at Festival de Cannes 2015.
‘Holiday In December’ follows Adeel, a student at a university in the north, as he travels south to spend the winter break with his cousins living in one of Lahore’s gated communities. While, the second film, ‘Baat Cheet’ stars Sarwat Gilani and Joshinder Chaggar as two young women living in Karachi, who confide their recent moments of weakness with each other. The film will be a visual journey through their conversation, local media reported.
According to local media reports, Sarwat Gilani quoted as saying, “It’s always a pleasure to be recognised as a talented nation, especially when the platform is the entire world. I am delighted that our film made it to Cannes … and most happy that it has already won three gold awards in Indonesia”.
‘Baat Cheet’ has already won three gold awards in direction, newcomer and International short film categories at the ‘Documentary and Short International Movie Awards 2015’ in Indonesia.
The prestigious 68th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from May 13 to May 24 in France.
